Nairat is getting on her feet
Nairat is three years and eight months old. She is an amazing little girl who suffers from a serious physical disability, but she is very bright :). She was born with spina bifida. She underwent surgery shortly after birth. The lower part of her body was paralyzed and numb. Providing good quality healthcare to kids with any kind of disability is pretty tough here. Specialized rehabilitation care is really hard to get and really expensive. Apart from regular wheelchairs, other aids are almost impossible to find. Even so, Nairat's parents have worked really hard since she was born to improve her health as much as possible and get her on her feet. Both her mother and Nairat are great fighters. They try to exercise regularly and provide her with the necessary supplements. And when there are no aids available, you have to help yourself. They made her some parallel bars in the backyard, and she slowly began to learn to stand, hold herself up, and take a few steps. We had been thinking for a long time about how to help her improve her physical condition. After watching a video of her holding onto the parallel bars and walking, the decision was made. We needed to find a suitable verticalization aid that would help her strengthen her legs, learn to walk, and join in social life among other children. I asked my dear father, rehabilitation specialist Dr. Jozef Gabrhel, for his professional opinion and advice. Together with other staff members at his practice, they helped us choose a suitable device, purchased it, and donated it to Happy childhood. Thank you so much! So we had the mobility aid. All that remained was to transport it to Africa. The airlines were not very helpful when I asked them for assistance. They advised me to purchase additional luggage and transport the aid in it. So I had no choice but to disassemble the walker down to the last screw and pray that I would be able to put it back together again when I arrived at my destination. Fortunately, it wasn't as complicated as I feared, and Nairat is already "running" at full speed. She promised me that she would train hard, and she is doing just that. From the videos that her mother shares with us from time to time, it is clear that she really enjoys the exercise and is making progress. The doctor is optimistic about Nairat's future. He believes that if she trains intensively, she could one day walk with the help of braces and crutches. The whole family and we are extremely grateful for this generous gift and tremendous support! We are keeping our fingers crossed for the little fighter and wish her that one day she will be able to stand firmly on her own two feet and fly out into the world on her own, without the help of others.
